about

Independently recorded, mixed, and mastered in 3 weeks in a DIY apartment studio, Pentimento (or The Pros and Cons of Being Ceaselessly Self Aware) is the debut album by Ugly Ghost, a lo-fi dream pop solo project by 21 year-old Jake Perreault. Pentimento is an eclectic 11-track debut that moves from fuzzy sad rock to lo-fi psychedelic pop, and beyond, candidly addressing topics including hookup culture, social anxiety, and depression.

Pentimento is defined as a visible trace of earlier painting beneath layers of newer paint on a canvas. It is an alteration in a painting showing that the artist had changed their mind about the composition during the process of developing it.
